New building to re-house the entire collection.

DMP were appointed as structural engineer and façade consultant for this project. Fair faced concrete was used throughout the project and in particular for the canopy and canopy soffit and support walls.

In pursuit of a LEED platinum certificate for sustainable design the façade was originally conceived as a laminated timber system. This was eventually value engineered out and a standard aluminium system was used. The sky box lanterns over the gallery were constructed as frameless 4m high walls with a translucent interlayer to achieve a floating glowing box.
